Molly Dean & The Orange Mighty Trio: An intimate night of music and film

Two of the Twin Cities’ best-kept musical secrets come together for the first time on January 21st at Bryant Lake Bowl for a unique night of mixed media adventures. Described as “ a songstress that eschews archetypal female folkisms with sexy, subtle rebellion”, Molly Dean has captivated audiences locally and beyond for years. Known for her genre-defying live performances that incorporate the RC 50 Loop station into her shows to create rich sonic tapestries, Molly now collaborates with Cloud Cult cellist Dan Zamzow and a rotating cast of premiere local jazz talents. For this performance, Molly will be joined onstage by Zamzow, along with Josh Peterson (guitar, Heiruspecs) and secret weapons Rachel Price (tenor sax) and Paul Jennings (percussion).

If The Orange Mighty Trio has flown past your radar, you’re missing out on some series magic. This instrumental collective, named “one of my favorite new discoveries in the music scene” by Mark Wheat of 89.3 The Current, features violin, bass and piano in live sets that run the emotional gamut from virtuosic to subdued. Their recent projects include a foray into film scoring, including this live score performance to “”La Riviére du Hibou”, the 1962 classic Civil War movie by director Robert Enrico.

Space is limited, advance tickets strongly encouraged.
