Molly Dean

Molly Dean

Just a day after completing a Sound Arts degree in 2008, Molly Dean hopped a plane and spent the next five months in Alaska convening with nature and writing new music. Molly returned to the lower 48 with restored energy and a battery of new songs and immediately jumped back on the stage. Always known for her unique, genre-defying live performances, Molly continued to captivate audiences, incorporating the RC 50 Loop station into her shows to create rich sonic tapestries.

Awarded an emerging songwriter’s grant by the Grove Foundation, Molly headed to the studio to record her 3rd full-length album, set for release in 2011. Now writing for both guitar and piano, and performing with cellist Dan Zamzow (Cloud Cult, Liminal Phase), the primacy of her sultry vocals continues to drive her songs with sincerity and delicate passion. Her music has been described as a “deceptively simple” and her presence “enrapturing”- a songstress that eschews archetypal female folkisms with sexy, subtle rebellion.

Molly Dean has opened for revered artists such as The Bodeans, The Honeydogs, Keri Noble, Michelle Branch, Pat Donahue, Billy McLaughlin and Daphne Willis and was recognized as KFAI’s Woman Folk Artist of the month in December 2008.
